Shotcut 24.09 was released today as the latest stable version of this versatile, free, open-source, and cross-platform video editing software written in Qt using MLT (Multimedia Authoring Framework).
Shotcut 24.09 is here only two weeks after Shotcut 24.08 to address some major bugs reported by users, including seeking and frozen video issues with some files or scenarios, wrong frame rate for Android Camera videos, as well as the missing Reverb audio filter on the Windows version.
This release also fixes some issues with the “Apply Copied Filters” option in Timeline > Clip, a bug causing keyframes to be added when not intended in the Color Grading video filter, a color issue in the JPEG preset under Export > Presets > Stills, and a bug causing audio-only WMA files with DTS audio unplayable.
Apart from the bug fixes, Shotcut 24.09 also brings several improvements, including new “Increase Text Size” and “Decrease Text Size” options to the context menu for Notes, and a new Reframe video filter (output only), along with a corresponding Reframe button under Export > Video.
Last but not least, Shotcut 24.09 adds a Resample option under Export > Video with a warning dialog to enable the oft-misused export video resolution, aspect ratio, and frame rate fields, and adds a warning dialog to notify users when changing the Settings > Video Mode or Timeline > Output > Edit options with a project open.
