Red Hat recently released Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9.5, the latest version of its enterprise Linux distribution, designed to enhance application deployment and workload management for organizations across various technologies, from AI to edge computing.
This version introduces several significant features, including a new sudo system role that automates the configuration of sudo globally, and Red Hat Satellite 6.16, which improves the installation of servers on RHEL systems. Additionally, users will benefit from improved file management capabilities in the Web Console, allowing routine tasks to be executed without the command line.
RHEL 9.5 also includes Podman 5.0, an open-source container engine for handling Linux containers, along with updates to PostgreSQL (PG Vector), Node.js, GCC, Rust, LLVM toolsets, and JDK 17, which becomes the default Java Development Kit implementation. An enhanced image builder is also part of this release, providing support for pre-hardened image configurations.
