After five months of development, MPV 0.39.0 is now available for download as the latest stable release for this open-source and acclaimed media player software.
Highlights of MPV 0.39.0 include NVIDIA RTX and Intel VSR scaling support via the D3D11VA filter, support for media controls on Windows systems, multi-touch support, improved track selection for multi-component languages, and enhanced compatibility with dmabuf-wayland.
This release also adds a new select.lua script that lets users easily choose files from playlists, tracks, chapters, output devices, and more, a native replacement for autoload.lua, and a new fifth page for stats.lua for displaying track information.
It also adds a new --autocreate-playlist option for demuxing, a new pitch-shifting feature for audio, support for changing GPU API options at runtime, --gamma-factor support, support for macOS color space transformation (EDR/HDR), PowerShell command line completion, and VO dragging deadzone support.
On top of that, MPV 0.39.0 adds support for ITU T.35 metadata in the Matroska (MKV) container, support for VVC Matroska demuxing, and support for mouse input events in the Windows terminal. Under the hood, the MPV 0.39.0 release has been updated to use FFmpeg 6.1 or newer, as well as libplacebo 6.338.2 or newer.
