Today, TUXEDO Computers, a Linux hardware vendor based in Germany, has introduced the TUXEDO Stellaris 16 Gen6 laptop, which is powered by Linux and features upgraded components for processing, graphics, and display.
This new model is equipped with an Intel Core i9-14900HX processor boasting 24 cores and 32 threads. The TUXEDO Stellaris 16 Gen6 can be configured with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 graphics supporting 16 GB of GDDR6 VRAM, up to 64 GB of DDR5 SO-DIMM RAM, and offers storage options reaching 8 Terabytes via PCIe 4.0 SSDs for high-speed performance.
“This is the fastest hardware on the planet in an enclosure that strikes the golden mean between portable case dimensions and high cooling capacity for either fastest high-end hardware on par with upper-class desktop PCs or quieter fan noise at very high working and gaming performance,” stated TUXEDO Computers in a press release.
The sixth-generation TUXEDO Stellaris 16 Linux laptop comes with a sophisticated all-aluminum design, featuring a 16-inch matte display that boasts an incredibly fast 240 Hz refresh rate, support for NVIDIA G-SYNC and Advanced Optimus, a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, and 100% coverage of the sRGB color space. Additionally, it is illuminated by a brilliant 500 nits LED backlight.
When it comes to connectivity, the TUXEDO Stellaris 16 Gen6 boasts impressive features. It is equipped with the Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 802.11 (2.4 / 5 / 6 GHz) support along with ac/a/b/g/n/ax wireless capabilities. The device includes Bluetooth 5.3, an HDMI 2.1 port with HDCP 2.3, a RJ45 1 Gbit (LAN) port, and a Thunderbolt 4 / USB-C 4 port that supports DisplayPort 1.4a. Additionally, it offers three USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, a USB-C 3.2 Gen1 port, a 2-in-1 3.5mm audio jack for both headphone and microphone, and a full-size SD card reader.
The Linux notebook is powered by a 99 Wh battery, which is capable of supporting up to 10 hours of video playback. It also includes TPM 2.0 for security, a Kensington-Lock mounting point, magnetic and self-sealing ports designed for the TUXEDO Aquaris cooling system, high-definition audio, and a quiet rubber dome/membrane keyboard with multicolor (RGB) per-key backlighting. Furthermore, the device features a FullHD (1080p) webcam equipped with a built-in microphone and lens shutter.
The TUXEDO Stellaris 16 Gen6 is available for pre-order from TUXEDO Computers’ online store, starting at 1660 EUR (~$1,816 USD) for customers outside of Europe or 1979 EUR for European customers. This pricing is for the base configuration, which includes an Intel Core i9-14900HX processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 graphics, 16GB DDR5-5600 RAM, and 500 GB Samsung 980 SSD storage. Shipping is expected to commence in mid-November 2024.
Similar to all notebooks from TUXEDO Computers, users have the option to select the company’s own Ubuntu-based TUXEDO OS, which features the KDE Plasma desktop, or they can choose either Ubuntu 24.04 LTS or Kubuntu 24.04 LTS.
