The free, cross-platform, and open-source video editor called Shotcut has been upgraded to version 24.04. This latest version is enriched with enhanced Ambisonic spatial (spherical) audio support and numerous bug fixes.
Almost two months subsequent to the release of Shotcut 24.02, this fresh update brings in an Ambisonic Encoder audio filter. This enhances the ambisonic spatial (spherical) audio support that was deployed in the preceding version. In addition, Shotcut 24.04 includes an explicit indication on the on-video control for the new Ambisonic Decoder audio filter.
In the scope of view, two new inclusions have been made – Audio Vector and Audio Surround. Besides, a new Time Format setting, that showcases itself wherever timecode is displayed or editable, has been included. This update also comes with a fresh “Apply Copied Filters” feature, which can be found in Timeline > Edit menu and the context menu, providing support for handling several selected video clips.
Furthermore, the new Shotcut version has extended Undo and Redo functionalities, enabling the addition, removal, and alteration of keyframes for Fade In Audio, Fade Out Audio, Gain / Volume, Brightness, Color Grading, Contrast, Fade In Video, Fade Out Video, Text: Rich, Size, Position & Rotate, and White Balance filters.
Several bugs were addressed to enhance the Elastic Scale video filter’s distortion with preview scaling, the Settings > Audio Channels > 4 (quad) option, the Zoom Timeline to Fit option, and the batch analysis for the Stabilize video filter on export with a project folder.
Another fix includes a problem that resulted in a crash when the Keyframes panel was in a tab group alongside the Filters panel. Other improvements include color support in Properties > Convert > Best if the input video is BT.709 without signaling, a conversion prompt when dropping incompatible video files, and the Filters panel to apply changes after shifting the clip on the Timeline.
