The developers of Barotrauma, known as FakeFish, recently showcased their new game Frostrail at the Triple-I Initiative event, and they have expressed a "tentative yes" regarding Linux support. Set in a harsh open world where players manage a train in a frozen wasteland, the game offers a survival FPS experience quite different from Barotrauma’s submarine environment.
In an official Steam announcement, the developers shared their current stance on Linux compatibility:
Will Frostrail be MacOs/Linux compatible?
One of our developers is primarily working on Linux, and we are eager to open Frostrail to the Linux gaming community. So that’s a tentative yes at this point at least for Linux. Our number one priority is making the PC version smooth and stable for Early Access release, and Linux/Mac support is also kept in mind every step of the way. However, we can only fully confirm support for these OS upon release.
Frostrail is already attracting attention, garnering over 100,000 wishlists on Steam within just four days of its reveal. The game is anticipated to enter Early Access in 2026.
