Earlier this year, the team at Liberux announced their ambitious plans to develop a Linux-powered smartphone, the Liberux NEXX. This device aims to blend modern smartphone features with the capabilities typically found in advanced single-board computers. The planned specifications include an RK3588s processor, a 6.34-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels, 32GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. Additionally, it is set to feature dual USB 3.1 Type-C ports, a headphone jack, hardware kill switches, and a robust 5,300 mAh battery.
Currently, the development team is progressing toward the design phase, having completed the initial prototype for the phone’s mainboard. Testing is now underway, focusing on RAM, storage, camera capabilities, display, and other vital hardware components. However, it may take some time before a functional version of the Liberux NEXX is available to consumers.
