DXVK 2.6, a Vulkan-based implementation that allows the use of Direct3D 9, 10, and 11 games on Linux through Wine, has been released with significant updates. One of its key features is the addition of NVIDIA Reflex support, designed for D3D11 games, including popular titles like God of War, Overwatch 2, and Quake Champions. The new version also improves Vulkan swapchain implementations and introduces support for the ID3D11On12Device1 interface, enhancing the efficiency of multisample resolves on tiling GPUs.
Although the inclusion of NVIDIA Reflex support is a welcome update, developers caution that it may not function in many Unreal Engine 4 games running in D3D11 mode due to certain functions not being called. As a workaround, using D3D12 for those specific titles is suggested.
The update also improves performance in a variety of existing games, notably Assassin’s Creed 3 / Black Flag, Watch Dogs, Stalker: Clear Sky, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, among others.
In addition to these enhancements, DXVK 2.6 addresses previous issues such as memory allocation errors from DXVK 2.5, crashes in AdvHD-based visual novels, and fixes related to D3D11 video processor view creation. Other bug fixes include resolution of race conditions that could lead to crashes during multi-threaded asset loading, incorrect texture bindings, and issues with half-rate Vsync.
