Today, the KDE Project announced the release of KDE Plasma 6.3.2, marking it as the second maintenance update for the KDE Plasma 6.3 desktop environment. This update comes just a week after the previous version, KDE Plasma 6.3.1, and aims to resolve various bugs, crashes, and issues raised by users.
Among the highlights of the 6.3.2 release is the addition of support for animated WebP and GIF formats in the Spectacle screenshot tool. Users will now receive warnings when WebP support is missing, along with a reminder that WebP is a superior format compared to GIF.
The update also addresses a regression that affected the automatic tablet mode on specific devices, a bug causing desktop icons to be incorrectly deselected when dragging a selection box, and an issue that left the Plasma desktop and panels invisible when a new Global Theme was applied. Furthermore, it corrects bugs related to the deletion of widgets from the plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc configuration file.
Additionally, KDE Plasma 6.3.2 includes improvements to the “prefer symbolic icons” setting in the system tray, resolves visual glitches with long weather station names in the Weather widget, and fixes color issues with the inline file renaming text field when using mixed theme colors, like Breeze Twilight. A more refined management of power settings has also been introduced, which restricts screen brightness changes to built-in displays on laptops, minimizing timing issues with external monitors.
Updates and improvements to the Plasma Discover graphical package manager are also part of this release.
