The Document Foundation has announced the release of LibreOffice version 24.8.3, the third maintenance update for the 24.8 series. Released approximately six weeks after version 24.8.2, the new version includes fixes for 88 issues reported by users, contributing to an improved user experience.
LibreOffice 24.8.3 introduces support for the Visio template format (VSTX), and detailed information on the bugs fixed can be found in the RC1 and RC2 changelogs. Users can download the new version from the official website, which provides binaries for DEB and RPM-based GNU/Linux distributions, along with a source tarball for developers who prefer to compile from source.
For those already using LibreOffice 24.8 from their Linux distribution’s repositories, it’s advisable to wait for the 24.8.3 updates to appear in the stable repositories before upgrading. This version enhances numerous features introduced in the original 24.8 release, which debuted on August 21, 2024.
