PeaZip 10 Launches with Enhanced GUI, New Compression Presets, and Exciting Features!

PeaZip, the open-source archive management software that is free and available on multiple platforms, has received a significant update today with the release of version 10, bringing forth a multitude of exciting new features and improvements.

Among the notable updates in PeaZip 10 is the introduction of a new “MTP devices” folder within the Filesystem section of the navigation sidebar for Linux users, designed to streamline access to mounted devices. The graphical user interface has also been refreshed, featuring a redesigned progress screen, and users now have the option to disable hints and tooltips, along with an improved GUI rendering engine.

This update also enhances file browsing on Linux systems, now fully supporting all styles and sizes, with special folder icons displayed across all modes. The Style menu, themes, and embedded icons, as well as the context menu, have all undergone updates in line with the redesign.

Furthermore, the file archiving capabilities of PeaZip have been improved, allowing users to revert the 7z / p7zip syntax level back to the earlier versions 17.05 and 16.02 via Options > Settings > Advanced, thereby enhancing compatibility with older 7z / p7zip syntax structures.

Additionally, PeaZip 10 enhances the quick “Extract here” option in the toolbar, making it visible when one or more archives are selected in the file browser. It also updates the compression presets to include support for tar.gz, tar.xz, and tar.zst archives.

Behind the scenes, PeaZip 10 utilizes the Pea 1.20 backend, which now allows users to search for file hash values on Google and Virustotal for identifying known malware. New command line switches have also been introduced to display text previews of files, and users can now directly save checksum/hash results in formats compatible with GNU Coreutils.

For more information about the new features and improvements in PeaZip 10, be sure to check out the full changelog. You can download it now from the official website, where you will find ready-to-use binaries for 64-bit and ARM64 Linux systems, including GTK and Qt graphical user interfaces.
